Meelang Cheoun earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the College of Nursing at Seoul National University, and her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Administrative Law from the Graduate School of Seoul National University. She obtained her J.D. from Pusan National University School of Law and passed the Korean Bar Examination.
Before beginning her legal career, Ms. Cheoun worked as an operating-room nurse in the Department of Neurosurgery at Seoul National University Hospital and as a researcher at the Hospital Capacity Building Division of the JW LEE Center for Global Medicine at Seoul National University College of Medicine. Through these roles, she gained on-the-ground experience in matters such as the collection and management of medical records, planning and operation of international healthcare cooperation programs, cross-border transfer of personal information, and copyright issues relating to medical educational content.
During her LL.M. program in Administrative Law, Ms. Cheoun authored her master’s thesis titled “A Public-Law Study on the Regulation of Unlicensed Medical Practice in the Era of Digital Healthcare,” examining key legal issues in the digital healthcare environment, including medical AI, direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetic testing, and self-regulation of online platforms. She also completed the Winter Public Interest Legal Internship Program at the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency, sharpening her practical perspective on balancing corporate activities and regulation.
Drawing on her clinical experience and her expertise in administrative law and fair trade law, Ms. Cheoun provides hands-on legal advice in regulatory matters, medical disputes and administrative litigation, and general corporate law across the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and bio industries.
